According to US treasury department there are 113 countries who have agreemnets on FACTA including Cayman Islands
Do you think many hedge funds have offshore accounts?
Are these accounts just to avoid taxation or there are more benefits to them?

They have offshore feeders for non US investors and tax exempt US investors and in the case of certain sophisticated structuring of entities that may cause a need for an offshore feeder. The master LP fund is often in the Cayman Islands, that receives funds from the offshore feeder as well as an onshore feeder for traditional US investors.

The Financial Times recently mentioned that alot of Hedge funds are opening offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubia. I wonder if the same thing applyies here or is it a genuine interest in emerging markets.
