Interning in the FO of a hedge fund itself is very meaningful period, especially as a freshman. If they invite you back it just looks like they liked you. I don't see the downside.

If you try to recruit and someone asks why you aren't going back to this fund, I'm sure you can come up with some acceptable excuse without trashing the place.

Came here to say the same. Were they the ones to ask you back for a second internship? If so, gloat about that ish! Especially if you can get it in a letter, or permission to use them as a reference.

You left out a couple of key points though. Are you graduating this year or in junior/senior year and looking for post graduation FT? Is there a specific reason why you wouldn't go FT there if they wanted you to? Otherwise have you given any thought like mentioned above about what you'd say as to why you didn't/couldn't?
