Point72 Modeling Test/1st Stage Interview

Received the opportunity to take Point72’s intro model test and cognitive assessment as well as a follow on call the week after with some of the analysts. Does anyone have any insight/recommendations on how to prepare for both items? They say it’s a 3 statement model and a wonderlic style test and I assume for the zoom call I will need a stock pitch both long/short. Any advice is appreciated! As of now I have 4 days to prep for the model and about 9 for the first intro call. Thank you!

Hit the nail on the head to be honest. Have pitches ready and strong motivations for L/S.

Hi I was just wondering did you hear back from them? Wondering what are the chances if I couldn't balance the model like single digits in the first year and growing to ~100 in the latter years.. I assume it's an automatic ding

Guys I just messaged some of you. Sorry I'm not always on this thing, between LinkedIn, Hinge, and Experian, I don't have much time (little joke there)

Ok when the BD person starts asking you good signs of questions near the end (when is your bonus, when can you start, etc.) the last question is about what vertical you prefer covering.........

SAY I CAN DO ANYTHING

They'll contact the whole PM pool then. Whoever is hiring. They dont want to bother a software PM if you straight up say "Prob industrials and consumer is best". The women/men are so busy with work and only are bothered by BD if they know a candidate has no pre-existing biases

Unless you straight up wouldn't go to work there under a certain coverage criteria but....everything can be learned. Maybe FIG or energy is a learning curve, but they dont even cover the first and the second is so manageable. For example my banking career was around two niche industries and I just had to become an expert and that was not tough.

We're setting up PM convo in a few days.

Also BD person definitely asked some WEIRD stuff. Weird as in why tf would I know that/is this really necessary. I still was able to reply but not stuff I prepared for. Let me know how you guys/girls felt.

Hey Guys,

To everyone who has either DMd or commented for insight--I do not check this thing with any semblance of regularity. Try to hit up the people above you whom I replied to.

My bad guys. I would love to just put a phone number in here, but that's a bit close to home. Maybe I can get one of those burner second numbers apps? I'll follow up on that this afternoon ET.

Take care everyone.

Hey financegirl, congrats on your P72 offer!! I was curious if you'd be willing to share your stock pitch over PMs. It would really helpful to see what a strong stock pitch looks like (thesis points on what the market is missing in valuing a stock, what data gives you confidence that your thesis will play out rather than consensus, etc.) as a senior in undergrad who is currently competing in a stock pitch competition and is looking to become a public investor after my time in M&A IB.

Regardless, huge congrats again on the exciting news and I hope you do amazing at P72!
