I wouldn't say a smaller firm is necessarily any higher risk than a big 3 pod (just look at the average tenure of their employees). The difference is the track record and institutional trust in the particular pod you're joining.
Given that you sound young, you probably shouldn't make your career decisions on the basis of next 12-18 month comp and instead on where you think this takes your career in the long run. The job content / opportunities opened and nature of the people you're working with will matter much more for your lifetime earnings and job satisfaction.

I wouldn't do it. Smaller mm hf = lower quality pms (higher blow up risk), less reputation from which you can interview for future jobs.
Also its better to be a developer at a tech company than at a finance company, your work will be respected much more.
