Quantitative job at a event driven / merger acquisition fund

I am pretty new to this industry and wondering what are the typical work that a quant usually does in a merg acq fund? Feels like most of the risk arb rely heavily on industry knowledge and conversation with company management / lawyers / regulators etc.. Wondering how quantitative analysis / systematic trading / even semi-systematic trading play a role in there? I guess one can spot mis-pricing in derivatives / convertible bonds, but can't think of anything other than that... Thanks
