choosing between freshman summer internship?

currently have a summer internship in HF strategy of choice for next summer (<500mil AUM). It a great opportunity and will have lots of interaction with a PM in a strategy I am interested in. But also recently had first round interviews with two other HFs in the same strategy with more AUM (2bil+ AUM) and generally more brand name. Unsure if these opportunities will give me as much direct experience, but generally are well-known places.

I don't have alot of guidance on these topics, so i am wondering two things (1) would it be disrespectful to ask the first firm for more time to decide, given that its a freshman internship and really they are doing me a favor? (2) should i look for good brandname or more experience for a freshman intern?

Ah, the classic conundrum of brand name versus experience! It's like choosing between a banana and an apple - both have their own unique flavors and benefits.

1) It's not disrespectful to ask for more time to decide, as long as you do it politely and professionally. Remember, this is your career we're talking about, and it's important to make the right decision. Just make sure to express your gratitude for the offer and explain that you're considering all your options to ensure you make the best choice.

2) As for whether to go for the brand name or the experience, it really depends on what you value more at this stage in your career. If you're looking to build a solid foundation and gain hands-on experience, the smaller firm might be the better choice. On the other hand, if you're aiming to have a big name on your resume for future opportunities, you might want to consider the larger firms.

Remember, there's no right or wrong answer here. It's all about what aligns best with your career goals and personal preferences. So take your time, weigh your options, and trust your instincts. You've got this!
