A lot of the comp is having the privilege to invest in medallion, where if you compound at 50-60% for 5-10 years you are set for life.

But one thing is for certain- one of the most secretive firms in existence has tons of data points from the young analysts they churn, so just keep asking around and you’ll find it! There are like 200 people at the company and even less in investing roles and no one ever leaves…

Realistically you would be deciding between completing your 3rd PHD and winning awards in physics, or moving to Long Island to get rich, so unless that’s you I wouldn’t worry too much.

Quick search, apart from Quant researcher roles, seems no very demanding qualifications at RenTech. Even the Quant researcher roles I have met people with higher acheivements yet they choose not to go to finance.

Trader at RenTech is execution trader, they execute orders to rebalance portfolios, not the typical prop trader who make risk-taking decisions. Software developer is middle office role. Researcher is the real money-making roles, all the rest are support
