SMs that have adapted

Are there any SMs that have done well over 20 plus years adapting to regime changes, growth to value to quality rotations or the reverse? Not including Viking as they are multiple PMs and lower NRR. Seems rare and op reverses when regimes shift

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it is indeed rare for single-manager (SM) funds to consistently perform well over 20+ years while adapting to regime changes, such as growth-to-value or quality rotations. Many SMs struggle with these shifts, as their strategies often rely heavily on specific market conditions or aggressive calls that may not be sustainable over time.

However, the key to longevity for successful SMs lies in having a repeatable process that works across different market environments. Managers with true staying power tend to focus on compounding capital consistently rather than relying on short-term blowout periods. They maintain strong conviction in their strategies, adapt to market ebbs and flows, and handle underperformance with discipline and a clear process.

While Viking is excluded from your query, other SMs with similar characteristics—lean teams, disciplined processes, and a focus on long-term compounding—might fit the bill, though they are indeed rare.
