"Stock" pitch for a macro fund
So today I was putting together a thesis for an option spread on an international country ETF, and I was thinking two questions: first, if one is interviewing for a macro fund, is one required to pitch a macro investment idea, or is a stock pitch still what is generally expected? Second, what type of analysis/thesis is expected?
I assume the answer to the first question is "of course, it's a macro fund, so you have to pitch a macro idea," but I haven't been able to find much on this specific topic by searching the HF forum. If anyone knows the answer, could you shed some light on what type of thesis would be expected (e.g. should it specify how to implement the investment thesis is a practical way, such as specifying a particular type of derivative, product, etc.)?
In regard to the second question, if I am pitching an index, obviously the exact content will depend on the precise thesis, but are there any areas that are considered essential to discuss regardless of the specific thesis? What about analysis of any of the underlying companies of an index?
