Coming from sell-side equity research and interviewing for hedge funds, is it ok to pitch stocks that I already cover? More importantly, what about pitching a stock as a long or short when my lead analyst's published rating is a hold/market perform? Can obviously provide a disclaimer that it is my own opinion and not that of my analyst or firm, but still not sure how this is viewed on the buy-side during interviews or if its is ok and understood. Thanks!
