Taking the Series 7
Hello all, Over the past few months I have been looking into potentially taking the series 7 exam, and wanted to receive some feedback on the matter. My first question is, how difficult is it to obtain your series 7? I do not have ample amounts of free time everyday, but generally have a few hours to spare on the weekends, so would this even be realistically possible to study for the exam in this short amount of time each week? Finally, how difficult is the exam itself, while I said I did "research" it wasn't very precise or dug in as I would have liked it to be, so that's why I have turned to you for help.
Thanks, any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Hi Inexperiencedbateman, no, I never sleep and so I can respond to any lonely threads (like this one) at all hours of the night. Impressive, I know ;-)

You're welcome.
It's not a particularly difficult exam, especially if you have a traditional finance background from university. Unless you want to spend 3 months, you're likely going to have to fork up some more free time than "a spare few hours on the weekends." As a simplified frame of reference, I studied roughly 3 hours per day, 5 days a week for about 6 weeks (~90 hours) not including taking practice exams. I don't know how this stacks up against others, but I passed with a ~90 (I likely over-studied). If I could do it again, I'd simply read chapters I needed color on (MSRB regulatory chapter tends to trip people up, for example), and spend more time taking practice exams. The exam itself is much simpler than practices you'll be given by the likes of STC. Hope this was helpful!
Did you take any live classes or videos as well. Or just the book and questions?
