Tier 2 L/S Internships
Hi through networking, in the process for some Tier 2 LS such as XP, Walleye, etc. All seem to be new-ish programs and very unstructured. Wondering if these would be bad ideas to take vs ER or LMM IB if interested in investing long term.
imagine going to er or lmm over walleye
Not totally unreasonable? Walleye doesn't have any of the analyst development that the big 4 have, and Walleye has an extremely bad track record at not firing people after a year.
By going to ER/IB, you mitigate the very real "out of job after a year" scenario.
Firing people after a year at Walleye? Hey 2018 called, it wants its hedge fund reputations handbook back. Time to get some updates in your database
^^Thx this is the key question
Ayneone else have opinions?
I'll slightly defend my original position though i think the objection raised is reasonable.
I think that your perceived value will be higher from a place like walleye making it easier to re-recruit if something goes wrong. Also, the right tailed outcomes are way more.
If you are interested in investing roles you will also probably learn more and have a better time doing an investing role rather than some tangentially related banking role.
as always it’s more about the PM then the fund. A top PM at Walleye is better than a newbie at P72
Hi can I message you? Would love to learn how you networked and any advice you have for a current college junior. Thanks!!
Any buyside is better than sell side research

Can I dm you? I’m looking for hedge funds rn and I have no idea where to start other than the big academy programs (CAP, P72, Catalyst). I’m a non-target school but I have some good stock pitch comp placements
are you the bridgewater metaculus winner guy by any chance?
