URGENT: 3-month notice period in offer - deal killer?!?

Hi all - need some advice, I’ve got an offer at a very reputable HF (>$2bn), but the offer is contingent on an employment agreement that has a 90-day notice period. The firm won’t budge and is insisting it remain in the contract.

Question 1: is this going to proclude me from opportunities/offer in the future? Making it harder for me to leave?

Question 2: would this lengthly notice period be a deal killer for you?

I mean iits not 2 years. 90 days is just cash your bonus and go to Thailand money.

Go on lnkdin and you will see a ton of guys with 18 month sitting on the beach.

Family friend had a 6 month non compete. You'll most likely be paid for this period - its either time for you to get a new job or go to some asian country and travel for dirt cheap.

While the other posters had a point in saying that it is a non-compete, personally I’d be somewhat wary.

I personally don’t feel that I am at the point in my career where I could recruit for another firm with that kind of non-compete and not have it hinder my recruiting process. I would guess that it wouldn’t matter at all at the pm level but imagine that it would at the analyst level especially at the leaner, more aggressive funds out there
