what is the best way to set up for global macro in 2023
target undergrad with applied math/econ background, interested in macro products and event-driven investing. I know macro was dying for a while, but had a great resurgence recently. For an undergrad dreaming of getting into a macro fund, where is the best place to start out of undergrad? I know bridgewater has an associate program, and some people from my school begin in quant trader roles at other HFs, but where are the best entry roles?
DE Shaw Oculus hires students out of school. This is likely the #1 seat. Brevan and Rokos have grad programs. Other funds like Moore have been known to recruit locally at schools like Columbia. Citadel GFI also takes a couple students. Most quant funds also have macro strats.
wow that’s not a lot of places, all hard to get. What if you can’t land a job out of undergrad, what roles should you pursue?
