What is the minimum amount of time it take to become a portfolio manager at a hedge fund?
Assuming you start working as an analyst at a fund straight out of college at 22 and you are really good at your job/crushing it every year, what is the minimum age/time it could reasonably take to become portfolio manager?
Also, how old was the youngest portfolio manager you have ever personally seen/heard of?

Seriously though, don't ask yourself these questions. They are toxic and counterproductive to what you are trying to accomplish. You only get so many shots on goal in this career, and its a marathon and not a sprint. Much better to become a PM at 35 with a strong foundation and lessons learned from many mistakes and after working under a very strong PM for a bunch of years, than to rush into a PM seat at verition at 25 and you're still relatively super green.
Exactly, PM is but a title and it’s what you do and not what’s on your signature that matters (unless it’s my title, in which case it’s all that matters… I kid)

Agree - everyone’s trying to maximize their own probability of becoming a right tail outcome which only happens in older years with the proper foundation…. Title chasing when not ready for it is a great way to blow out of the industry quickly
