What % of HF analysts make 8 figures (5+ YOE)
Assuming MM or large SM, question below? Excluding jr analysts who joined 2-3 years out of IBD, as well as startup funds. Was thinking 5-10%?

53% according to sources. just trust me bro
Lmfao can you people stop
I think a better question is what kind of performance and pnl figures u need to put up in order to make that much
Fantasizing is easier than executing
What kind of perf / pnl figs do you need to put up in order to make 8 figures at a $10bn+ SM?
No, nowhere near 10% of HF analysts make 8 figures (even if you restrict yourself to top funds).
Also, I don’t understand the point of this question. Knowing what % of people make 8 figures tells you little about how to get there (or anything really useful). What are you trying to understand?
Sub 0.5%
Not sure how many analysts eventually end up making that much but if u work at pershing, lone pine, tiger or viking and arent atleast making that much, then you're an abject failure because everyone else definitely is
Forgive my lack of knowledge, but is the pay really that high at those funds? I assumed analysts made 1-2mm their first few years there and then only broke the 8 figure mark after at least 5-6 years assuming good but not senator-tier performance.
Ah! I should've worded my comment better. When I said "everyone " I meant everyone 5+ years in as the question was referring to more senior analysts as opposed to juniors. So you're very much correct here although if you're good enough u can start making that much 3 years in. I have a couple friends at tiger and they both made partner within 3 years and thats when you're bonus gets linked to fund performance and sky is the(was before this year lol) limit afterwards
There are about 30-50 people in the world that would fit this.
I'll bite.
Top 3-5% MM PMs (not analysts) or partners at top 3-5% SMs.
What % for $5bn+ L/S SMs?
I think very few people make that much as analysts. Making 7 figures is already hard enough
Successful PMs at MM or founders/partners at SMs above 1bn$ aum are probably the only ones to be able to reach higher
