Which will have faster salary growth: hedge fund or prop?
Assuming you are competent.
I am guessing prop traders have faster salary growth. You get access to trading a lot faster and have more room to matter.

Hey Derk-Dicerk, I think you deserve a response...heck, everyone does. We're listening, sorry about the delay ...my best guess at places on WSO that could help:
You're welcome.
None of those answers the question....
I'll try. Hard to compare with such generalizations, few people are going to have intimate knowledge of how pay scales in both. Assuming you're good, having pay tied to PnL is the quickest way to scale in this business. Employers just don't pay anyone obscene amounts of money to people when it's based on their discretion. Like you said, prop shops allow you to get a book quicker and would therefore offer higher upside in a short time frame. But this is kind of a pointless exercise to compare anything to "hedge funds". Huge differences between a platform, tiger cub, quant shop or Bridgwater. And careers shouldn't be picked based on the maximum possible earnings potential in years 2 through 4.
