Great question. At this point and given the headcount involved, one wonders whether it's some kind of front for an illicit enterprise.
Is there even any headcount? I remember getting emails from different people but when you called the number in their email signatures, it was the same old guy picking up each time.
Wow, fake profiles? That'd be something. I've received emails and linkedin msgs from half a dozen different people, but never bothered call back to check.
Spoke to the founder there once and he literally knew 0% about the hedge fund industry and came off as super arrogant and condescending despite being a moron. 0/10; would not recommend.
They are in business because they are running a search for a $10B+ long/short equity hedge fund in NYC that is interested in adding an analyst to its team. This fund invests in public equities with a fundamental, research-intensive approach.
If you are interested, please e-mail them your resume to discuss. If you are all set, please forward on to any potentially interested parties.

Not defending them - but I’ve gotten a few solid interviews from them (not market neutral funds that use all recruiters). But yea they seem to not know much of the industry
I’ve actually had a few interviews through them over several years. But if we want to talk real scammer personality - Ale## Chap##.
No idea how they get some high quality mandates.
Oh, these guys are some serious BS artists. They never put anything in writing apart from the most general info, then just try and get the info of who you reported to before so they can call and try to find roles.
Chapman is hands down the worst of all the headhunters. For starters, they somehow to this day send me emails where they address me as “East”, instead of by my name. The city I lived in was East Rutherford, New Jersey.
“The responsibilities are that of a typical hedge fund analyst”
I had to tell them to stop emailing me because the daily search for the identical role with AUM and location changing was driving me mad. Idk how they got my info.
I credit WSO for telling me in advance these roles were fake so I never gave them my resume.

Ken Murray?

As an investor, we need variant view. Unfortunately, this wasn't one.
Maybe if you had a good resume they would actually send you interviews. Blame yourself not hate on great firms.
Ok Ken.
Found Ken’s burner hahaha

Easily the worst recruiters in financial services
Theyre tryna earn fees so they can finance & launch a spaceship to get back to their home planet
Their home planet is scam-town?
basically 90% of the industry - you should speak to a European headhunter, absolute muppets over there.
Do you use job boards in Europe? LinkedIn has tons of buy-side jobs through recruiters in Europe only

Alexander Chapman and Selby Jennings are equally crap
SJ straight trash

That’s actually hilarious
I’ve had 4+ good interviews from AC. One at P72 which is where I ended up
Contrarian: I got an interview at a great/famous fund (not MM) through them. Never had a negative interaction.
All I know is:

Surprisingly I got a few interviews from Mercury Partners in the past (very shocked too) for real-name firms and made it to the superday...
