Would you hire this guy?
Hi,
I have a question for all the PMs (or any others with say over hiring decisions) and would really appreciate any inputs. Would you hire a candidate with the following characteristics:
- Target school, STEM + Econ major. 3.8 GPA.
- Prev Top LO internship
- 2 years at Small Long biased SM HF (small/micro cap value/SS) with pedigreed but under the radar PM? This is assuming you're not in the PM's network. I understand it would require a demonstration of skill given the lack of conventional signals (IB).
- How important would performance attribution be? And how would it have to be determined to be taken seriously, if even possible under SM model.
Thank you very much for any help!
asking for a friend eh
Have to laugh at the idea of a 24 year old claiming "performance attribution" over anything.
You need to sound smart at the interviews and have good pitches. But no one is going to believe you drove the fund's performance in any way.
