Are tax incentives effective?
Trump's Carrier deal includes $7 million in tax breaks for Carrier's parent company, United Technologies, in order to keep jobs in America. But, are tax incentives actually a good idea? The Hill reports:
“The economic literature on tax incentives is not kind,” Drenkard said. “It almost universally shows that targeted tax incentives in terms of the broader economy either has an immeasurable impact or a negative impact.”
