Daily Percent Gains in the Past
I'm an undergrad doing some research on a theory I have about the market. I was wondering what the easiest way would be to see the largest percent gain/loss/volume on a given time on a day (ex- on December 12th, 2013 blank, blank, and blank stock had risen the largest percent on that day as of 10am). Right now I'm using yahoo finance to see the most active/%gainers/%loss daily, but I need past information to validate my thesis. Ideally a service that could show the largest daily gains would be free, but I may have a research stipend to pay for a service if there is nothing free that can provide this.
Thanks for your insight!

Click "Find historical data"
Did you even search for this? To find the above I googled "stock gainers historical" and that was the first link.. it literally took more time to write this post than it did to find the data
I've already seen this. It's helpful, but like I said, ideally I would be able to find % gainers/loss within a day at a specific time, not just as a day overall. It kind of voids the theory to use information from a future metric to evaluate an investment made in real-time.
Ex- At 10am MCHX is up 35%, but it falls to only 7% gain by day's end and would not be listed on a list like this. I need to be able to see metrics like this at time points throughout the day.
Thanks though!
Why not just use the $TICK, $TRIN or other breadth tools ?
Sounds to me like you want to download every tick per security studied. You're going to need a data provider and some pretty robust understanding of data science.
Why not just look at largest deviations +/- from VWAP on a day to day basis?
