How are hedge funds sold and how are people involved compensated?
I know mutual funds are distributed through retail by internal/external wholesalers and institutional sales is separate...but the retail market for HF's won't be nearly as big. I have heard that 3rd party distributors are often used since HF's cant broadly advertise. I have also seen Investor relations/relationship manager jobs here and there. Are these wholesaler equivalents who operate internally due to broad territories? Are there salesmen who work directly with clients and target HNW individuals?
I really have no idea so any insight is appreciated. Thanks
