If You Could Start Again
If you were a student who was heading off into college in the fall of 2018, what would you major in, what would you minor in and what would you shoot for and why? What would you have done differently than what you did and how are things different today than they were before compared to when you started school and the job market for your major etc?
This is with today's employment opportunities in mind and today's ..Well...everything...Just pretend it's 2018 and you are just starting.
This is solely based on what you would think is most lucrative and would yield you the most amount of money for maybe less work than you had originally done.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing some responses I would appreciate it and I feel a positive and informative discussion can get going. Thanks
Wow! That's quite a challenge. I will say, regardless of where the economy, the country, industry, etc. are moving, you must adapt and find some career choice that will keep you fed.
With that said, had I to do over again, I would probably have gone into patent law after a couple of years as an engineer. In fact, where I live to this day was purchased on the basis of going to night school and getting my JD by 5 years out.
Then, of course, life happened and we had another child, a home, mortgage, student debt, etc.
I have debated the issue of going after the most money before. You state:

If that is truly your goal, I wish you luck I guess. What I would prefer to wish you well on would be TI find a field that interests you, regardless of pay, and do the best job you are capable of doing it.
Money is quite nice, but delayed gratification is a virtue, not something that people can just learn over time.
