Is it a good or bad time to by ETFs

I'm 21 and looking to start growing my money. My money is mostly out of the markets right now, but after doing some reading, I think I want to start putting money into TQQQ. My only concern is that the US equities market is priced really high right now, and I'm scared of losing a bunch of money bc of a crash. I'm pretty inexperienced, so any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

Id be pretty surprised if there is a huge QQQ downturn before 2022. Do I recommend TQQQ as a Strat right now? No. Id heavily invest in FAANG, S&P & either QQQ or some other technology ETF. Only throw into TQQ if you are able to prepare for some kind of downturn.

Thanks for the advice. Just curious, why do you think there will be a downturn for TQQQ soon? I'm asking bc shouldn't FAANG and the QQQ etf (from my understanding is just an unleveraged TQQQ ) move in the same direction as TQQQ given that they are all in the tech sector? Also, to avoid getting wiped out by a downturn, would you recommend dollar-cost-averaging?
