Jim Cramer

I’m curious to hear what the WSO community thinks about Jim Cramer. Is he a total fraud, or nah? Sometimes you hear him bark out some wildly unsubstantiated claims, but I haven’t really taken the time to look into his money management background to see what type of success he had. Would be interested to hear what people think.

Best he can do when applying to the masses I think. He has some good ideas, some bad. I've read a couple of his book and taken some things from them; good when you're first starting out. He does preach "buy and homework", which I think most people tend to overlook.

Like any other service product/industry, if you do good work for one person, they will tell one person. If you do bad work for one person, they will tell five people.

Yeah, I get that his intended audience isn’t solely finance professionals, etc. But, it seems like a lot of his stock picks are based on sweeping generalizations, as opposed to technical, precise insights.

Almost all of his shows can be found in archives, but occasionally the recordings are mysteriosly unavailable. I found this out doing a case study... I can't remeber which company it was; if you are looking back at his past performance than you must consider that some horrendous picks have been removed from the public archives.
