Path from IB --> Public Equity Markets (London) ?

Incoming AN1 at a European BB with a medium-term goal of working in public markets (more LO AM / buyside ER -esque roles vs say L/S HF).

Mainly just curious about how well-trodden that path is anecdotally, but also trying to gauge where I might stand relative to a comparable applicant pool at the ~AN2/3 level.

Specifically, how much of relative competitiveness is a function of:
(a) the brand value of the overall bank/platform,
(b) the specific sector covered (+is it always a case of staying in the same sector?), and
(c) deal reps/exposure within that team?

Any insights appreciated - TIA.
