Just a very brief reminder that the deadline to do a Roth conversion for 2015 is Dec 31st. If you do a Roth conversion after Dec 31st, you will pay taxes on it in 2016.
Why would you convert in 2015 rather than 2016?
Generally because you expect to be in a higher bracket in 2016.
Who should convert?
-Generally, if you were a FT student and plan to work more next year and have pre-tax money somewhere. (Ahem, attention MBA and MFE students) -Someone getting a promotion that moves them into a higher federal tax bracket.
I am not an accountant or tax strategist, but just wanted to remind folks that if your tax rate is going up next year... it may be a good idea to convert at least some pre-tax money to post-tax money.
