I’m curious as to what everyone’s thoughts are on the trend of ‘Social Media’ investing. Companies such as Ditto Trade, Covestor, Investfeed, Wealthfront, and Stockviews are creating ways for professional and amateur traders to share ideas as well as mirror trades in ‘followers’ accounts. (Wealthfront is a little bit different, however, but nonetheless leverages technology in a similar way).
There seems to be a new company every month but I’m not sure I see many competitive advantages from one to the next. What do you think? Would you consider publicizing your trading/investing activity for a fee or, on the flipside, follow an investor and mimic his or her trades in your own portfolio? Are there any PMs on these sites that could share some insights?
