USN to retire 11 Ticonderoga class cruisers by 2026, Subsequently PLAN achieves large warship superiority

The USN has started to retire the first out of 11 Ticonderoga class cruisers, the largest non-carrier warship in their arsenal, while the PLAN has laid down the first of the new Type 055 hulls in Shanghai. By 2026, the US will have a mere 11 Ticonderoga class, which are older, less powerful and have less sophisticated electronics compared to Type 055s, which will number 12-16. Another, more important distinction is that the USN will lack a significant number of hulls that can field laser-based CIWS or railguns, as Arleigh Burkes are too small and have too little energy output, while Ticonderogas could theoretically accomodate new technology. This is a problem that the PLAN does not face, as Type 055s are of more than sufficient size and energy to field laser-based CIWS, railguns and other energy intensive platforms.

What do defense enthusiasts here make of this?

My good friend BBH! You make posts like this near constantly. As someone with what I believe to be unique insight into the US defense space, I can confidently tell you that neither of us will ever be able to accurately assess the power landscape. Information asymmetry on this topic is simply too vast. Do you really think that the decision makers are releasing sensitive information to the general public? If you're smart enough to have this level of knowledge, you should also be smart enough to know that its nowhere near sufficient to make definite conclusions about the capabilities of either side.

an unsubstantial response to a legitimate point of conversation. nice. your trolling seems to be ineffective whenever you encounter anyone who knows what they're talking about.

Information asymmetry on this topic is simply too vast.

11 rusty aluminum cans made in the 1980s that displace 9600 tons and uses the tiny mk 41 VLS must surely be considered a peer to 16 ships made in 2014 weighing 13000 tons with far larger VLS cells that can accomodate superior PGMs!! If you say so otherwise you are a Chinese bot!!

Older naval tactics would make it appear that PLAN has taken the advantage here but given modern US doctrine of deploying destroyer class vessels as independent battle groups as well as screens for carriers means parity is more reliant of efficacy  of anti-ship missiles and the ability of destroyers to efficiently deploy ASMs against opposing vessels.

Truly this is probably an advantage for the US navy given it removes a large weakness against submarines providing the US and allies a clear asymmetrical advantage in submarine warfare. It is a more efficient deployment of resources and takes away the low hanging fruit.
