Why China devalues and sells treasury at the same time?
China devalued their currency last months and there are talks of potential more devaluation. However, I read some research and articles saying China has been selling US treasury at a very fast pace. Anyone know why they do that? Isnt selling treasury and buying yuan strengthen the yuan? Some said that selling treasury will cause yield to go higher, therefore, attracting more capital inflow to the US and strengthen the dollar. But how fast can the capital flow to make the difference?
