The Economist is by far better than WSJ although it's weekly so you should ideally read both. That said I'd recommend FT over WSJ any day just a shame I don't get delivery in my neck of the woods and must instead wait until I get to the station to pick up my copy, WSJ is delivered though :S
Long answer:
well... depends on what you want to get out of it.
From a 'Keeping a pulse on wall street' perspective solely, WSJ is better.
From a journalism quality, research and deep analysis perspective, Economist is miles ahead of WSJ.
As has already been touched on, can we throw the FT in as well? I get it for free and I'm trying to decide if I'm missing out by getting my news 80% FT 20% WSJ. Anyone else have thoughts?

i honestly wouldnt bother with the Economist. They glaze over topics at best. WSJ and NYT are much better.
