William Blair's base pay for analysts has indeed been raised to $115,000, as noted in the WSO dataset. This increase aligns with trends among elite boutiques (EBs) and bulge brackets (BBs) that have been raising analyst salaries to remain competitive in attracting top talent. For example, other banks like Barclays, Citigroup, and JPMorgan Chase have also increased their first-year analyst base pay to $100,000 or more in recent years.
As for whether other banks will follow William Blair's lead and raise their base pay to $115,000 or higher, it's possible. Elite boutiques, in particular, have shown a willingness to push compensation higher due to their smaller headcounts and ability to offer more competitive packages. However, bulge brackets may be more cautious, as significant increases in fixed salaries can set a precedent that's harder to adjust during slower periods.

Is this true?
Bump
They are probably starting to feel the pain of terrible bonuses many years in a row by kids not joining and they feel they need some good PR

I will never forget the associate that showed up 2 hours late to my interview, gave me the hardest LBO questions he could think of, and got mad at me for not answering one of them correctly. Raise that base pay, William Blair! I’m sure it’ll fix your shitty culture!
Why was the question?
“Walk me through what happens if interest rates rise by 200 bps in year 2 of the LBO” or something ridiculous like that. I was a sophomore non-target student, not sure why he thought I could answer that one
Honestly anybody who takes a William Blair offer with other options at this point - fully deserves it
Raise base pay by $5k to underpay everybody by $30k to 70k on bonuses or more at AN/AS level
It’s actually impressive how much Blair and Baird have both fallen off
