Not much to add, I am a sophomore and was recently offered a SA position at a firm in my town. Is this salary appropriate for 40h/week. Could I ask for something more? Any advice?

It’s on the low side, but not horrible if you’ll be living at home. Not bad for a sophomore summer.

Per week absolutely not. Per month as a sophomore at 40 hrs a week I guess not really.. 10-12/hr.
The experience is worth it. You could ask for more if you got the balls and aren’t awkward. Ask someone friendly in the company how to approach if at all or advice then follow it.

Its fine if you're living at home and basically have no expenses. Lots of people go to a different city or take on unpaid internships prior to junior summer to build out their resumes, so you're already in a better situation.
Definitely not ideal but pretty common for sophomore internships at smaller banks. I was paid 3200 for 80hr weeks and had a friend who was paid 2400. The experience will matter much more down the line.

Boss ended up referring me to the MM bank I work at now. Find the people in the office who have the connections and make it a priority to work with them as much as possible. Do a good job and you'll have a strong chance at recruiting for next summer
I did an unpaid internship last summer, pour one out lads
I got 3 grand for a year interning at a boutique, and only because I got close with the analyst and he advocated for me. Luckily getting street for my junior SA at another bank.
Yeah in the end working unpaid paid off for me as I’m gonna make street for SA role =)
