2028 internship recruiting timeline?

Could someone walk through the timeline for having down technicals/when to start reaching out to banks for 2028 internships (NY and Houston). Obviously knowing technicals as soon as possible is best but when should they be mastered by?

reach out probs starting aug/sept. Never too early to start w techs, but tbh unless ur targetting EBs, even if you'd never taken a single finance class in ur life u could learn most of what you need in less than a week

yeah i guess that wasn’t said exactly. i read “you can learn most of what you need in less than a week” above, and I think that is the wrong approach. I agree you can probably get the basics down quickly, but most students I know try to cram over winter break. What ends up happening is that people who already have some command of finance, the language around deals, and how businesses actually work are way more polished.

prepping for technicals isn’t really a one-time thing. imo it pays off more to build up your acumen over time through internships, case comps, reading, and interview prep altogether, rather than just memorizing a bunch of questions and concepts right before interviews.
