5 BB superdays, with no offer yet
I have applied IB for those BB HK offices and have already attended 5 superdays.
I know I could get through all first rounds but ultimately have failed all the superdays... Some might say I'm still on the waiting list some just declined me.
I'm pretty unsure, as a student who attended collegue in Mainland China, is it because I'm not fancied by any seniors... Just feeling so bad with all these bad feedbacks
Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's clear that superday rejections can be tough, but they also provide valuable learning opportunities. Here are some actionable steps and insights to help you move forward:
Reflect on Feedback: If you've received feedback, analyze it carefully. Common reasons for superday rejections often include:
For example, one WSO user mentioned that superdays are all about being likable and making your interviewer want to work 100 hours a week with you. Focus on building rapport and showcasing your personality during interviews.
Networking: As a student from Mainland China, you might feel at a disadvantage due to fewer alumni connections. However, networking is key. Reach out to alumni or professionals in the industry, even if they aren't from your school. Building relationships can help you gain insights into what specific banks are looking for and potentially secure referrals.
Broaden Your Scope: While BBs are the ultimate goal for many, consider applying to smaller regional boutiques or other high finance roles. These can serve as stepping stones and provide valuable experience. As one WSO thread suggests, having a finance role now can also strengthen your profile if you decide to pursue an MBA later.
Polish Your Story: Ensure your "why XYZ bank?" and "why IB?" answers are compelling and tailored to each bank. A strong personal narrative can make a significant difference in superday interviews.
Practice Behavioral Techniques: Superdays often test your ability to handle pressure and communicate effectively. Mock interviews with professionals or peers can help you refine your responses and build confidence.
Stay Resilient: Remember, getting to the superday stage itself is an achievement. Many candidates don't even make it that far. Use this experience to improve and keep pushing forward.
Lastly, don't hesitate to seek support from mentors or peers who have been through similar challenges. You're not alone in this journey, and persistence often pays off in the long run. Keep going!
