A fresh new credit risk analyst in BB's wholesale banking arm

Hi everyone, first of all I want to appreciate again the existence of this forum that I have already benefited a lot.

Being a new credit portfolio analyst for less than three months conducting research and analysis on the US industrial sectors using tools like First Research and Global Insight, I've got chance to get through the concepts risk folks have been mentioning, EAD, PD, EL, LGD, etc. which felt no longer strange to me.

I'm just starting to wonder the alternatives of the career paths that I could pursue starting with my current role. I saw relationship manager and portfolio manager in some posts which sounded not bad. Can someone expand the alternatives and elaborate a bit about them so that I can get a flavor of the paths and sort of know why I would pursue any of them?

I'm more interested in developing towards roles like "credit analyst in capital markets", "corporate banking analyst", etc.

Thanks so much!

Congratulations buddy! I am going to have a CR Analyst with BB in the following week. Could you please shade some light on the interview questions? I don't have past experience in CR. Any recommendations for preparing the technical part?

Stay Strong!

I am a CR analyst at a very large bank...though my role incorporates CR and Corporate banking...your exit opps are pretty wide..you can jump to IB in the same industry group or go the levfin route...IG finance is an option as well..m&a is def not out of the question with a little networking...a credit focused hedge fund isn't out of the question either though this option will take longer...my advice: stick around for atleast a year and make sure that you get to work on some really interesting deals and have a deep understanding of credit agreements, how they are structured, covenants, etc.
