A Lost Chimp
Fellow Monkeys,
I'm beginning to lose hope. I'm a target school senior and have been networking my ass off at several EBs and BBs, only to still not get first rounds—likely due to my GPA that's right around the IB cutoff. I have lots of buy-side experience, have been interested in finance for years, and have done a lot of the required reading—could talk about Buffet's take on goodwill's accounting treatment for an hour. However, I still have been unable to get more than a few interviews and am looking for advice. I've also been applying to growth equity shops too, but have struggled to get first rounds with those as well (have sourcing experience too). I'm in a couple interview processes at the moment, but if these don't go well I'd consider looking into other options... tech sales is starting to appear attractive but not sure where to go/look at this point.

Hey man was in the exact same spot as you. Target school, but barely cutoff GPA. Didn't have much luck with BBs and MMs, but started going for boutiques. Now at one with awesome experience and doing okay so far in PE recruiting. Don't rule out boutiques.
Sounds like you know your stuff and prepare properly. Keep studying technicals, keep networking and there should be more opportunities opening up after New Years.
Will there be formal applications opening after new years or will it be more of a networking thing?
Update: All worked out. Persistence blah blah etc... Stay hungry.
Congrats! In a similar spot trying to re recruit for FT. Did you do anything differently in order to have a better success rate?
Just took time/practice. Don't drive yourself crazy, just keep following all leads and looking for new ones. Ended up with a few different offers at the end too.
