A3 at global boutique (Moelis, Laz, Roth) considering moving to BB

I’m an A3 at a global boutique in Australia. Moelis/Roth dominate the boutique scene here with Macquarie, UBS, GS, Morgan Stanley, Macquarie dominating the BB scene.

I’ve had recruiters reach out to me for roles at the BB’s listed above and am considering it. I’ve
Got no reason to leave my current team, good culture, similar pay to BB’s, strong deal flow, really genuinely nice MD’s.

The only reason to leave would literally be for prestige and the opportunity to work on more exotic deals. What do you guys think, what would you do ?

Depends on the bank, JPM/BAML are notorious for terrible hours/culture in Australia. UBS/Macquarie/GS have better hours

Most banks will wrap up by midnight with some cases where you’re working a few weeks till 1-2am because some PE firm is riding you

From my understanding typical comp for AN1 at BBs is ~160-175k AUD, so around 110k US.

I believe AN1 bonuses ranged between 75-125K AUD for last year, however I believe this may have been before the raise of base comp so not completely sure

Which teams at which BBs? There is a wide range of variation between groups. You could be in one where you'll see no deals in over a year and others where you're in the office 7 days a week due to multiple live mandates.
