Advice for next year's summer analyst class?
Essentially just the title? A lot of people say you don't really need to prepare for the internship, but with banks being more stingy with return offers, it would be great to hear from analysts/associates who made the final decision on who to give a return offer to and from rising seniors who just finished up their summer stint whether that's true or not. Would completing a modeling course via WSP be effective or not really? Would love to hear any thoughts on how to best prepare.
I have been on WSO for five years, and every year, people spread rumors about low ROs. Guggenheim’s New York office had a return-offer rate of approximately 70% last year, but it was close to 95% this year. PWP was also better than last year. The reality is only banks that cut a lot of interns get posted on this platform.
That said, summer analysts should at least (1) Understand the fundamentals and transaction dynamics of the specific industry they will cover, (2) maintain a baseline level of professionalism (3) be able to build a simple three-statement and cash flow model from scratch (4) practice PPT by recreating publicly available CIMs or IR material
