ADVICE THINK THANK FINANCE

Hello everyone,

Based on feedback, we have transitioned to an inter-school association specializing in economics and finance.

Our work will be shared on our website and LinkedIn. Please feel free to reach out to us on LinkedIn if you'd like to contribute or if you disagree with any of our posts.

You do not receive funding from donors, nor do you receive contracts from governments or NGOs to conduct policy or other research. You are a student club that helps people brush up on technicals — that's great, but that's not a think tank.

I would like to understand why you describe this project as "mediocre" and "unbearable." Unlike associations in business schools, where time is wasted writing explanatory articles about various finance careers, we pool our knowledge and train to improve our technical skills more quickly. How is what we do any different from a think tank if we also write articles about economic and financial news?

All this talk about market behaviour, you should know by now that GPT is priced into the public consciousness: everyone and their grandma can spot the LLM writing style from miles away

Also: what do you think a think tank is? Right now what you’re describing sounds like a smaller, shittier version of a run of the mill finance student org

we created the linkedin account a week ago, there are only 4 of us who have updated our linkedin but many people from ESCP, Paris-Sarclay, Centrale Lille are within the association

Not a think tank at all. What you described was more like what a finance club at a university does.

Also if you want to do research for reps, talking points during interviews, etc then great but the audience for it super slim. College students don’t know what the fuck they’re doing but are super confident about their knowledge. I speak from experience, when you actually start working in the industry it really kicks you in the ass. The quality of the “research” is likely to be piss poor and not that valuable to most people.
