Advice to get a job in IB (with not-perfect A levels)
I'm from over the pond (England), and have recently had my A level results. I missed my offer for an elite London Uni by 2 marks, and generally feel that I did poorly (I thought I would exceed their offer by several grade so was doubly crushed).
In the end I received ABB in Economics, Maths and Physics & got into an economics based course at a Semi-target in the UK. Total UCAS points without general studies = ~450. In the 3 A levels = 320.
Do I have a chance at FO/MO/BO positions? Is there any particular things I can be doing to strengthen my application to an IB. I'm currently trying to get a spring week/internship for my first year in Uni. How much will my A level grades hold me back?
I hate these threads. Everyone has a fucking shot at everything, it just depends how hard you are willing to work for it.
Judging by the way your wrote this post, you are clearly worried about your future and angling to get your way into IB. That right there puts you in the top 5% of all of your peers, because the vast majority of people at your age don't care, don't know anything yet, or have wrong ideas about their future.
Your high school grades DO NOT meant shit past undergraduate applications. Going to a semi-target is NOT at all going to prevent you from getting into IB. You probably will even end up having more fun, a better social life, and an easier time at your school vs. going to a target. You certainly won't be in a pressure-cooker competitive environment, which will make your college experience much better compared to those who went to "better" schools (whatever that means).

Haha I guess so, I feel like I have to be a bit ahead though considering how cut-throat IB seems!
I hope so the social life is better (from what I've heard, any social life is an upgrade on what I would have had, had I made my offer)! Do you have any advice regarding networking - it's a concept I'm quite naive to. I'm assuming that getting to know the societies and careers department is a good start?

Those A-levels are not too poor. Just make sure you're at a Russell Group university, get good grades (yes, even in your first year) and start learning as much as you can about finance.
