Am I being put on hold?

Went to final round interviews at a BB last week for a summer internship, and HR said they would contact me within a few days, before the end of the week. So HR called me by the end of the week and apologized, but they would let me know by the end of next week instead.

I know that there has been another superday this week, but I still haven't heard anything from HR. Are they putting me on hold because they wanted to see the other candidates first, or might there be another reason?

Yeah, you might be on hold. At this point, its out of your control, so don't try to think about it (I know its hard to do)

just to add, you have to ignore anything people said like "i can't wait to see you working at my desk" etc until you have an actual offer in hand. i have seen this happen far too many times to myself and friends where it looked almost automatic an offer would be coming, and then nothing. until you have the offer letter, nothing is guaranteed.

I know your situation, I was in the same boat last year. Crushed the interviews, built great rapport with the heads of the group, got great responses back to my thank you notes, and eventually I was put on hold for almost 2 months to find out someone beat me for the spot. It's life. Continue your search while you wait for a response. And good luck man.

Still no news about the offer, but a recruiter from a different division within the same bank invited me to a super-day. I asked him whether he knew about the other program I interviewed for, and he said all he knew is that they're still deciding. Does anyone has any idea what this new invitation might mean? Should I go, or would I risk offending the my previous interviewers by interviewing with a different division?

You won't piss anyone off. Your previous interviewers will understand that you can't put all your eggs into the same basket and just wait on them, especially if they haven't even given you a definite yes or no yet. If I were one of them, I'd actually encourage you to interview.

On the other hand, if you already had the first offer, and then interviewed within the same bank for a different position, then I might a little pissed, but not really, since it could very well be your number 1 choice to work in the other division. This is assuming you hadn't accepted the offer already, which it sounds like isn't the case.

yep you are probably on hold. I once got an email from HR after a super day (super day had like 80 kids there) telling the candidates they have not made decisions yet, it was supposed to take 1 week, but it is taking longer and apologized for it. they also said they would be making the offers within the next week or so. the only problem was the HR manager forgot to "white out" the recipients of the email, and we could see everyone she sent it to. there were only 20 or so recipients meaning 60 or so offers had already been made, even though she claimed none had been made yet, so I knew I was on hold.
