Am I burnt out?

So I was pushing really strong for 1.5-2 years; learning a lot / good reviews. Something switched a few months ago however and I just dread coming in to work daily, I get stuff done but I've really lost all interest and feel numb looking at spreadsheets and slides. Also the people and personalities are really getting to me, everyone think they're a genius but they're just an office robot like me making a little bit of money. PE sounds like shit now and lost all motivation to chase that. I just want to spend more time getting in shape, reading and with my family tbh lol

Does sound like a classic case of burnout. Nothing wrong with that, it happens to the majority of folks at some point (I've been there too). See if you can swing a week off to reset. Sounds like you're well liked so I'm sure they'll work with you.

Feel free to PM me if you wanna chat or have questions about potential exits.

Same boat brother, I’m riding the coattails of the past 1.5 years of my work to keep being liked and get early promo, but damn I’m cooked atp LOL. I just get home and lay in bed for a few hours before logging back on to finish work (self fulfilling low sleep cycle). It’s the whole illusion of doing “good work” as a senior analyst while just slowly becoming more apathetic, but that’s not going to bode well as an associate in IB or pe lol

Life is too short dude, you’re 100% at the burnout phase.

Take a week or two of AL to try and reset a bit, and then if you still feel this way then start recruiting for a job with better WLB that still makes good (relative to normal jobs, outside of the IB/PE bubble) money, where you’ll have time to rest, recoup and do the things that fill your cup.

All the best!
