An in at Blackrock?

I have a connection with someone very senior at Blackrock but not in the division/ department I would want to work in (or am qualified for). They offered to, when I apply, send my application to the recruiters in my division(I guess that’s an application bump), but I was wondering, although the person is very senior, how much would that help since they’re not in my area?

Would it be more useful to also ask if they can connect me with their peer/ equivalent in the division I’m applying for or even anyone they know in the division I’m applying for and also then try to get a resume push from that person in my division? Any other ideas on how I can go about leveraging this connection?

Btw this would be for AM

Having a senior connection at BlackRock is a solid start, even if they’re not in your division. The app bump will definitely help, but it would be even more effective if you also ask if they can connect you with someone in the AM division you’re applying to. A direct introduction from someone in that area would be much stronger, and getting a resume push from them would give you an extra edge. It’s worth trying to set up a conversation with that person, too, just to get a feel for the role and show you’re genuinely interested. Mixing both approaches—leveraging your senior contact and connecting with someone in the right division—will give you the best chance.
