Analyst under 21

I’m an incoming analyst at a MM in NY later this summer and I will be 20 years old for about the first year on the job.

My SA was virtual so never really a problem then, Tips for connecting with the team better/ not being awkward if I can’t go out? Do they card or not really care if you just look like the other guys you’re going out with?

Go out - order a Diet Coke at the bar and call it a day. Nobody will ask and if they do, just say you’re underage and they’ll likely laugh about getting turnt when you become of age. Under no circumstance try to use a fake at a bar - but if it’s an informal thing where alcohol is generally available at the event, it’s fine to have a drink.

Perhaps he / she studied in the UK, where you start university at 17y/o and complete your undergraduate degree in 3yrs. Quite common here for people to start work when they're only 20y/o, although I can understand it being somewhat of a novelty in the States.

You’ll be fine. Either you’ll be at an event where the bartenders just assume you’re of age or someone will be buying a round of drinks and no one will notice. Don’t call attention to your age and no one will give a shit.

Agree with the above on not using a fake. I wouldn’t care if an analyst used a fake, but I could see one of the VPs or MDs being dicks about it.

also, at most group outings to bars, one person orders drinks for a bunch of people....so in that scenario, just ask whoever is ordering for a beer....common smooth beers that all bars have are Heineken, Stella, BlueMoon....and these all taste good (not bitter like an IPA...not crap like coors light or bud light)...or just order a diet coke...or say you are dehydrated and order a water with lemon

just google it...you're welcome
