Another Trump post.... on Taxes!
I'm sure everyone has seen enough of "Trump" in all your favorite sources for daily news. Well here's another post on Trump, but this one's important! *(Assuming that you pay your taxes).
First off... Trump plans on having only 3 brackets for tax rates on ordinary income, with the rates of 12%, 25%, and 33% (*Currently there are 7 tax brackets). Second, as mentioned in the Wall Street Journal:
"The top rate of 33% would take effect at about $225,000 of taxable income for married couples; currently the top rate of 39.6% kicks in at $467,000 for couples. The top rate for singles under Mr. Trump’s plan would take effect at about $113,000, compared with $415,000 now, according to the Tax Policy Center in Washington."
"In 2016 the 33% rate takes effect at about $231,000 of taxable income for married couples and $190,000 for singles."
Although it's been said that this tax proposal is expected to lower your tax bills, it would be of greater advantage to wealthier individuals who make the big bucks. According to the Tax Policy Center, up to half the benefits would be going to those individuals who earn more than $700,000.
What's your take on lowering the number of tax brackets and the effect of the top tax rate at a quicker level on individuals that are single in addition to married couples?
