answering questions
If you're asked how do you value XYZ or walk me through a DCF, when you mention WACC do you in the middle of your explanation tell them how to calculate the WACC? Or is it expected they'll follow up?
It seems like this kind of thing can come up everywhere like saying how to calculate FCF, beta, etc.
So do you just stick to what you were asked or give a full explanation?
Just mention it. If they want you to go into detail, they will ask.
I felt like that would be the right thing to do. I can't imagine how long an answer to walk me through a DCF would be if you told them how to calculate FCF, WACC, B, etc.
Yea, just relax during the interview and don't make it seem like you memorized everything. The key is to relax.
walk through a quick 1-2 sentence overview, then break down into forecast out FCF, calculate TV, calculate discount rate - WACC - Kd, Ke (CAPM), then get EV. summary sentence. then end with, would you like me to go into more depth in any of those steps?
