Applying to different division at same firm after Superday??

I had my Superday with a BB the week before thanksgiving, and I have not heard a word since (not IB, but I have been reading its bad news if you don't hear back fairly immediately for IB spots so I'm assuming the worst). I have came across another opening at the same bank. Would it be okay to apply, or would I get auto dinged as I have yet to be 'officially' rejected?

I applied to IBD at a top 5 bulge bracket, superdayed there, got waitlisted, and rejected. I networked super hard and honestly felt like I crushed the superday.

I turned around and blindly applied to S&T (no networking or anything) at the same BB. Got another superday, then got the offer on the same day as that superday.

I wound up getting an IBD offer at a competing bank right after that (I think it really swung things in my favor that I had an offer already). I turned down the S&T offer only because IBD fit in with my goals more, but I would’ve been extremely happy with the S&T one had I not gotten the IBD one.

Point is, don’t limit yourself. I thought I had no chance but it led to my first offer, and I’m SO glad I applied for that role.

Hell yeah congrats! I just had to double check because I did not know if these firms set it up to where your application for another role will get dinged if you already have a Superday ‘outstanding’ so to speak.

Thanks! No they definitely don’t - not unless you say something extremely offensive in the interviews and get blacklisted from the firm.

Truth is, a lot of the time each division’s hiring efforts are run by different teams and they don’t even know that you had a superday with the firm. They literally asked for me to reply to the superday invitation confirming whether I was in the process with other divisions of the firm/if I had superdayed with other divisions (at which point I told them point blank that I had a superday with IB but didn’t get the offer).

They’re not as put-together as they seem.

Haha this is eye opening, I just assumed BB's were really well connected across divisions in recruiting aspects. I went ahead and applied. Thanks for the advice once again!
