Are precious applications stored?

hey all, rising sophomore here

just wondering if i apply for a sophomore summer analyst position for 2022 (i know, incredibly difficult to get unless diversity) at say BofA/GS and I get dinged, will that record be kept and my application be viewed less favourable upon for Junior SA in 2023?

or does it not matter and I should try applying nonetheless?

thanks!

I keep the “precious” ones, mostly as a store of value, but it is not a very liquid market.

But in all seriousness, as the other poster said, you should apply. If you make it far in the interview and don’t get the role, then future interviewers may reference that application to see why you were rejected. It may be used to ask questions about things you didn’t do well before. As long as the reason you are rejected isn’t crazy (you slapped the interviewer, cursed someone out, had a felony on record) previous applications aren’t used as a negative. As I said, mostly just as a reference point.
