Ask staffer for work??
Basically been on the desk for a month now and barely getting staffed. Second years are getting swamped- should I ask the staffer for more work? I maybe do 2-3 projects a week right now, nothing live

Enjoy it -- first year getting quashed in and out.
What do you mean quashed?
This is common, are you WFH? A lot of noob analysts aren’t getting staffed while WFH simply on the principle that it’s perceived to be harder to live-train an analyst virtually than it would be for a 2nd or 3rd analyst or associate just to do the deal work themselves. It’s not necessarily a bad thing I don’t think, but just know over some time as you move up the learning curve you’ll eventually be staffed on a lot of deals that require hard work and long hours. So enjoy this period while it lasts while periodically asking team analysts/associates working on live deals that you know of to help out every now and then to show some ambition.
